SOLA SCHOOL WAS FOUNDED IN 2014 BY SARAH TRELEASE AND MYSELF AS AN ALTERNATIVE TO MAINSTREAM YOGA TEACHER TRAINING PROGRAMS. WE EMPHASIZE ADAPTABILITY, ACCESSIBILITY, AND CREATIVE, CONTEMPORARY APPROACHES TO PHILOSOPHY AND ETHICS.

Our programs are geared towards practitioners and teachers who are interested in examining the place of yoga in modern culture, and the responsibilities that we each carry in developing that culture into its radical, political, creative, and generative potential. Currently we offer a yearly month-long immersion that provides the required hours and training to become a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) as well as ongoing workshops and alternative offerings that explore mindfulness-based approaches to the arts and social change. We partner with a growing number of organizations who appreciate our graduates' abilities to provide accessible movement practices for diverse populations and relevant approaches to meditation and mindfulness.

We are committed to advocating for financially sustainable careers for our teachers and are working to increase the quality and professionalism of the field through providing opportunities for alternative teaching practices, mentorship, and business coaching. Our teachers and graduates are highly regarded as having an approach to yoga that is physically intelligent, non-dogmatic, personally empowering, and socially engaged. We are dedicated to increasing equity and access to both teachers and students who represent populations that expand notions of ability, gender, and racial identity. Visit our website to learn more about our scholarship program, civic partnerships, and educational offerings.
